Catherine believes that everyone has a story, and she is honored to help you tell yours.
Before becoming a counselor, Catherine worked for over a decade as a civilian supporting the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Wanting to provide better support to the deployed forces, she volunteered to deploy to Iraq to assist efforts countering roadside bombs. She also spent 14 months at Camp Leatherneck in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, helping the Marines assess their operations and making recommendations to improve pre-deployment training. These experiences gave her an understanding of the difficulties facing military personnel, contractors, Foreign Service officers, and others who have worked abroad. They also inspired her mid-career transition into mental health counseling.
Catherine holds a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Loyola University Maryland. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia. Catherine takes an integrative approach, drawing on Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and Internal Family Systems. She is certified in Eye-movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Originally from California, Catherine moved to northern Virginia in 2005. When not online providing therapy, she enjoys hiking, trying new food, playing board games, and writing.
